On
stadium work
The Legislative Black Caucus announced
yesterday that it had reached an agreement with the Maryland Stadium Authority
to assure black participation in the construction and operation of the proposed
two new sports stadiums downtown.
A memo of understanding which will be part
of any construction agreement involving the proposed stadiums sets goals for
minority involvement in various phases of design, construction, engineering and
management of the proposed stadiums as well ass their operation, said Delegate Curt Anderson D-Baltimore and vice chairman of the Caucus.
The agreement would guarantee “the most
ambitious minority involvement in state history” said
Mr. Anderson.
Bills authorizing the construction of
baseball and foot-ball stadiums in the Camden Yards section of Baltimore are
now awaiting Gov. William Donald Schaefer’s signature. The legislation received approval from the
House and Senate last week
